The ffusion project – Albanian Polyphony, is music that brings together the unique iso-polyphonic singing of Albanian folk culture with the alternative and progressive rock genres that have been the backbone of so much of my music. I’ve been inspired by some of the greats, as well as some of the amazing session musicians I’ve worked with, to blend together the instrumentation and vocals of world music, and so much more, with my own style of music.
For the ffusion project – Albanian Polyphony, I travelled to Albania to record the Iso-polyphonic singing group ‘Thesaret Labe’ in their own environment as well as in the studio in Tirana. The result is this collection of tracks, that will hopefully encourage you to explore the unique sound of Iso-polyphonic singing. Set for release April 17th 2023
A collection of works that span both continents and eras. ‘The ffusion project – portfolio’ includes works such as ‘You Will Never Walk Away’ and ‘Brothers’ about the tragedy of war. ‘Where the Spitits Fly’ incorporates the the rhythms and chants of the South American Amazonian indians calling attention to the desecration of their tradition rainforest homelands. ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ is an interpretation of Hieronymous Bosch’s famous painting in the Prada gallery, Madrid that begins with haunting Gregorian Chanting and includes a section of J.S.Bach Toccata and Fugue before concluding in the musical hell of Bosch’s mind.
David Cummins is a producer, songwriter, vocalist and musician based in Manchester. The ffusion project is his Futureworks university major project for his BA (Hons) music production degree.
